Year 2 - Semester II
Dissertation/Educational Development Project (continued)
Core Course
Re-Entry - Professional Development and Change
The course aim is to facilitate the CPs to consolidate their learning from the MEd and transform it into contextually relevant and applicable strategies that they can use as Professional Development Teachers (PDTs) to improve their schools. This will be done through facilitating an understanding of the literature on educational change and their contextual realities. In addition, CPs will engage with PDTs already working in the field so as to listen and learn from them. Furthermore, CPs will go through the process of synthesising their learning (skills and knowledge) from the MEd courses in general and from their specialist fields (teacher education, and leadership and management) in particular. They will also reflect on their envisaged role and prepare a plan for school improvement according to that role. Moreover, in recognition that change is a collective and ongoing process the CPs will look at possibilities for collaborative partnerships and networking so as to promote their own and others' professional development. /p>
