- Each session will be chaired by an appointed chairperson.

Symposia
These provide an opportunity for examining specific aspects of a topic from a variety of perspectives. A convener in consultation with panelists plans the symposia in advance. Furthermore, the proposed formats for the symposia are to achieve greater interaction, and exchange of information and ideas, pertaining to the nature of impact of teacher education inputs and the issues involved in making claims of impact. Suggested formats for symposia are given below:
a) Panel Discussion
This format is less didactic and provides opportunity for greater interaction. Panel members are expected to make brief introductory remarks before opening the discussion among the panelists and the audience. These remarks are aimed at key issues and questions pertaining to a specific topic or aspect of work.
b) Roundtable
Roundtable discussions provide opportunities for a group of interested participants to engage in a discussion on a topic or issue relevant to the conference themes. The roundtable discussions will be proposed by a convener who will take a lead role in organising it, but will not necessarily lead the discussion.
Guidelines for Panel Discussion and Roundtable Discussions
- Each panel discussion session or roundtable discussion must have a
convener;
- The convener must submit a one page abstract of about 300 words giving an overview of the whole session plus the names and institutions of the panelists;
- The abstract for a panel discussion or roundtable discussion should be submitted latest by October 19, 2007;
- Abstracts will be reviewed by the programme committee and acceptance notified latest by
November 15, 2007;
- Each panel or roundtable session will get 60 minutes;
- Each panel discussion is to have a panel of no more than four members. The panelists are requested to make brief introductory remarks of about 10 minutes each. The rest of the time would be devoted to a discussion among the panelists and the audience;
- Each roundtable discussion would accommodate roughly 8-10 interested participants.

Poster Presentations
Poster presentations are available for those whose work is more suitable for a pictorial format rather than an oral/verbal format. There will be no formal oral presentation associated with a poster. Please note that these poster presentations are separate from the interactive poster symposia described above.
Guidelines for Poster Presentations
- One page abstract of about 300 words for the Poster Presentations to be submitted latest by
October 19, 2007;
- The abstract must provide a brief overview of the work being shown through the poster and include the author's name and organisation ;
- It is recommended that displays do not exceed 1.5m in length;
- Posters can be put up from 8.00 AM on
April 8, 2008;
- Posters should be removed before 6.00 PM. on
April 10, 2008. The organisers cannot be held responsible for any posters left after this time.

Alternate and Multimedia Presentations
Alternate and multimedia presentations enrich the experiences of attendees through active discussion and presentations and promote deeper understanding by all (including the presenters) about the topic at hand. Alternate and multimedia presentations could include presentations through a variety of mediums other than those described above.
a) Videos
Videos on topics pertaining to educational reforms and particularly the key themes are welcome as an alternate form of presentation. It will be requested that the videos be no longer than 15-20 minutes so that a discussion on the relevant content, production, and practical relevance of the video can ensue.
b) Innovative Educational Software
Introductions of innovative educational software are welcome and encouraged in this conference.
Guidelines for Alternate and Multimedia Presentations
- Please note that a laptop and accompanying projector will be provided in each room, but the facilitators must send special requests for any additional technological assistance, facilities, or equipment required.;
- The facilitator must submit an abstract of about 300 words by
October 19, 2007;
- A total of 40 minutes will be allotted for each of these alternate and multimedia presentations, which will consist of 20 minutes for the presentation/session and 20 minutes for Q&A.

Book-a-Talk
Conferences also provide opportunities to network and meet people of similar interest. To facilitate the conference participants to meet with other conference delegates, time has been set aside in the programme and a desk will be set up in the reception area to help conference delegates "Book-a-Talk". This desk will put up notices of names of individual or groups of individuals who might be interested in coming together for a
purpose. Where necessary and possible they will also make arrangements for rooms where such conversations could take place.
This is a format for informal and highly interactive sessions where you will have opportunity to lead a talk or to join any talk which is of your interest. This will cover more innovative ideas and unique experiences which currently do not fit well in straight jacket of research papers and presentations. This may also provide an excellent space for networking and for developing ideas for collaborative work.
Guidelines for Book-a-Talk
- On the first day of the conference a desk will be set up in the reception area at the Karimabad campus. All interested participants will have the opportunity to book a talk by registering themselves at this desk ;
- A notice board will also be placed in the reception area at the Karimabad campus to facilitate the participants interested in booking a talk with other interested colleagues.
