This study investigates secondary school organisational climate in two developing countries -- Iran and India. The paper is composed of four sections. The first section serves as an introduction in which the variable and the reasons of the study are introduced. The second section starts with a historical background of the respective country followed by some up to date information about it. The third section discusses the methodology of this study. The statistical, analytical and interpretations of results come in the last section.

A total of 512 teachers were selected through simple random sampling from 66 secondary schools of Arak city (Iran) and Mysore city (India). Subjects consisted of 226 men and 286 women. They were assessed using the School Organisational Climate Description Questionnaire (Sharma, 1978). Results indicate that there is a difference between two countries in terms of type of school organisational climate. Also, it was found that in both the countries the main dimensions of school organisational climate in schools come under 'leader behaviour characteristic'. From comparative perspective, it was found that in Iran the level of teachers' esprit and in India the level of humanized thrust is low.
