AKU-Institute for Educational Development

Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED), an integral part of Aga Khan University (AKU), was established in 1993. The Institute's mandate is to contribute towards education reforms for enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of education programmes/institutions in the developing countries, particularly in Pakistan. Within a short period of time, it has emerged as a 'national resource' for building institutional capacity of education systems through education, conducting research, promoting scholarship, offering innovative teaching programmes and influencing education policy and practice.

AKU-IED's efforts focus primarily on enhancing professional knowledge, and skills and status of teachers, teacher educators and others, who are responsible for successful implementation of educational reforms in Pakistan and other developing countries. More...
