International Scientific Conference
Countdown to 2015: Meeting Health and Education Related Millennium Development Goals

9-10 October, 2008

Aga Khan University , East Africa is pleased to announce the International Scientific Conference to be held in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania from 9 to 10 October, 2008. The conference theme Countdown to 2015: Meeting Health and Education Related Millennium Development Goals offers both alumni and participants an opportunity to explore and discuss the challenges and progress made through research and sharing of experiences in health and higher education in meeting the MDGs.

Call for Abstracts
All disciplines are welcome and encouraged to submit relevant abstracts that may be completed and ongoing research and papers that address any of the following sub-themes of the conference:

  • Evidence Based Practice
  • Women and Children's Health
  • Contributions of health care services to attaining the MDGs
  • Leadership and Management
  • Innovations in Health Practice, Research and Management
  • Meeting the Challenge of the Millennium Development Goals in Higher Education

Guidelines for Abstract Submission
Participants should submit abstracts via email in Microsoft Word format using the following guidelines:

  • Abstracts must indicate the surname and initials of all authors, with the surname of the presenter underlined;
  • The abstract title to be indicated in boldface, capital letters (uppercase) and centred;
  • Designation, institutional affiliation and country of presenter to be indicated;
  • The abstract must be typed in single spacing;
  • The abstract must be submitted in English;
  • Where appropriate, the text may be structured using the following headings: Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions;
  • Maximum number of words for abstract: 300, excluding title, authors and institutions;
  • Indication of whether the abstract is for oral or poster presentation.

Abstracts should be sent with a complete Abstract Submission Form latest by
August 20, 2008
to Sophie Onyango via email at sophie.onyango@aku.edu.

Authors will be informed by the Chairperson Scientific Committee whether their papers/posters have been accepted latest by September 5, 2008.

Although every effort will be made to comply with presenter's preferences, the final decision on whether a presentation should be given as an oral or a poster presentation will rest with the Scientific Committee.

Please Note: Acceptance of papers/posters does not in any way imply financial support to attend the conference.
