Aga Khan University holds a conference each year in which recognised national and international leaders in the field of postgraduate medical education get together to discuss and highlight new ideas, new trends and other relevant topics in this field.
Conference themes in recent years have included Understanding Programme Assessment & Evaluation; Research: Going Beyond Clinical Competency; Career Counseling: What’s After Residency; Safety in Postgraduate Medical Education: Challenges in Training & Patient Care Moving towards Competency-based Academic Practice.
Each conference is attended by faculty and students of the university as well as delegates from other universities. Renowned national and international speakers are invited to deliver lectures relevant to the theme. Residents and interns present original research papers and posters. Prizes and certificates are awarded for best oral / poster presentations. The presentations are published in an abstract book.
In addition, workshops are also held and have proved very useful and popular. Examples include Research Protocol Writing; Evidence Based Medicine; Communication and Consultation Skills; Understanding Clinical Audits, etc.
