Relationship between Salt and Blood Pressure in South Asian Population in Pakistan (Saleem Jessani)
The exact determinants of essential hypertension are not fully understood, and variations in its etiology and pathogenesis by ethnic group are well known. A greater degree of salt sensitivity is thought to result in an increased susceptibility to hypertension per se, and an increased risk of target organ damage and mortality, although not all data are consistent.
The objectives of this study are to:
explore the relationship of dietary salt intake with blood pressure in the population of Karachi, Pakistan.
