Assessment of Health Impacts of Arsenic in Drinking Water in Sindh Province of Pakistan (Naveed Janjua)

This study will estimate the prevalence of arsenicosis and determine relationship of severity of disease with arsenic levels in the drinking water in Sindh province of Pakistan. In particular the objectives are to:

Estimate the prevalence of skin manifestations (hyperkeratosis, hyperpigmentation arsenocosis) in a selected district in Sindh province of Pakistan;

  • Assess the relationship between arsenic level in water and skin lesions;
  • Assess the effect of nutritional status and diet on arsenic related skin lesions; and
  • Compare the reproductive outcomes among women in high arsenic and low arsenic area
