Training and Refeshers for the Research Team
The research team consists of one coordinator, two field supervisors and 24 community health workers (CHWs). Training sessions are arranged for CHWs by the Coordinator regarding study objective, design and inclusion/exclusion criteria for the study participants. They are briefed about communication skills and importance of ethical issues including rights and responsibilities and informed consent. The team is first rigorously trained over a six-week period in study techniques, including performing standardised BP and anrhppometric assessments and ECG. Periodically intra and inter observer reliability is assessed by comparing repeat measurements performed on the same individual at different times by the same observer, and the same individual at the same time by a team of observers. Continued refesher sessions are scheduled at six-month intervals.
