Dr N. Yousuf returns from Fellowship in the United States

Dr Naveed Yousuf, Senior Instructor, Department for Educational Development participated in a Short Term Fellowship in Medical Education (STFM) in Clinical Simulation at University of Illinois, Chicago (UIC) in August 2013 as part of his Faculty Development Award by the University. During the fellowship experience he observed the activities in the Clinical Performance Centre at UIC, and interacted with various faculty and staff members involved in the teaching, learning and assessment of clinical skills including the planning of the curriculum and its administration.
Dr Yousuf also had the opportunity to meet international experts like Professors Ara Tekian and Rachel Yudkowsky, to discuss the best practices at AKU, while also planning a way forward. They appreciated the quality and rigor of clinical skills assessment being done at AKU. They also spoke of the possibility of iniatiating short and long term research projects in collaboration with UIC.
During his stay in Chicago, Dr Yousuf attended two conferences: the Fourteenth Annual MHPE Summer Conference and the Eleventh Annual Clinical Skills Education Conference; and a Masters level course on Test Development at UIC.
