Postgraduate Medical Education
We offer specialist training in Internal Medicine leading to the award of a Master of Medicine (MMed) degree. Internal medicine encompasses the study and practice of health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment of men and women from adolescence to old age, during health and all stages of illness.
Graduates are exposed to a wide range of clinical problems and offered the opportunity to acquire skills in a variety of procedures with a team-based approach to patient care. The programme is four years in duration and offers clinical training in general medicine and medical subspecialties such as:

Continuing Medical Education
The department is engaged in regular sessions of continuous professional development for medical practitioners, nursing staff and other support staff.
Faculty
Our faculty are well recognised in their areas of specialization and are dedicated to developing the next generation of leaders through teaching, patient care, research and scholarship. They sit on reputable national and international bodies such as Valvular Heart Disease working group, European Society of Cardiology; International Working group, Non-communicable Disease (NCD) Alliance; Editorial board, The East African Medical Journal; the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburg), and The American College of Cardiology.
Research
We undertake research with a focus on population prevention and control strategies for Non-Communicable Diseases such as cancer, cardiometabolic diseases, neurological and chronic respiratory diseases. We are also researching on innovative models for cost-effective cardio metabolic risk reduction, and are involved in International multicentre Clinical Registries and Clinical Trials.
