On 17th August 2010, Dr Farid Panjwani presented a lecture entitled Education, religion and citizenship according to Muslim tradition, thought, practices at the first United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) Summer School.
The UNAOC Summer School titled, Bridging Hearts, Opening Minds and Doing Things Together, opened from 15-21 August at the University of Aveiro, in Portugal. It was organised in partnership with the Aga Khan Development Network and a number of other foundations. The Summer School brought over 100 participants from 44 countries together, to help young people in building the skills to participate in intercultural dialogue; and reinforce the potential for cooperation and dialogue between diverse societies.
President Sampaio, High Representative of the UNAOC said: “This summer school illustrates the global scope of the alliance and its capacity to bring together people from virtually all regions, cultures, religions and walks of life.”
