Accreditation
The Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations is accredited by the British Accreditation Council. The Institute offers an MA in Muslim Cultures, awarded under the authority of the AKU charter in Pakistan. UK NARIC, the British agency which has responsibility for advising on comparability of qualifications, has confirmed that the AKU-ISMC’s MA in Muslim Cultures is comparable to a British Masters and to level 7 in the UK Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
The Aga Khan University Institute for the Study of Muslim Civilisations (AKU-ISMC) has been awarded an "Highly Trusted" Tier 4 Sponsor's Licence by the United Kingdom Borders Agency. This Sponsor's Licence permits AKU-ISMC to issue a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) to prospective students. A CAS is required by the UKBA for any non-EEA international student seeking to obtain entry clearance to the UK.
In the United Kingdom, accreditation by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) is recognised by the UK Border Agency (UKBA) as a qualifying requirement for institutions wishing to enrol visa students. It is regarded by students and agencies throughout the world as the most reliable source of assurance in selecting a UK-based independent institution in which to study.
AKU-ISMC has received confirmation that the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education has scheduled us for a review for educational oversight during 2012.
