Pak-Norway Institutional Cooperation Project
During February-March 2006, faculty members from LUI’s International Service, Faculty of Education and International Studies at Oslo University College (LINS) conducted a feasibility study to assess the opportunities for institutional cooperation between higher education institutions in Pakistan.
The Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) was identified to be a part of a ‘tripartite’ agreement for developing capacity of Institute of Education and Research, Peshawar University (IER-PU). Prior to the development of the project proposal, a workshop was conducted in May 2006 in Peshawar to assess the institutional development needs of IER-PU. The participants of this workshop included faculty members from all three partner institutions.
Consequently, a partnership proposal for Rs 30.246 million, covering a period of three years was submitted to the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Islamabad, through the Programme Secretariat in the Planning and Development Division (P&D) of the Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan, Islamabad, for approval. The proposal was approved in mid-2007. An agreement was signed by the three project partners on July 9, 2007. AKU-IED was requested to initiate the proposed activities for implementation of the project.
After completion of three years, the project was given no-cost extensions for one more year.
