Three AKU-IED alumni have been awarded with certificates from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for becoming IB Workshop Leaders and School Verification/Evaluation Visitors. These alumni are currently the IB educators of Aga Khan Schools in Dhaka, Mombasa and Dar es Salaam.

Round table discussions have been initiated by AKU-IED, Pakistan's Research and Policy Studies Unit to provide a forum for researchers at AKU. This forum will provide opportunities for infromation sharing and learning from each other to facilitate research activities at the University.

Thirteen graduates of AKU-IED's MEd programme (10 from Gilgit-Baltistan and 03 from Balochistan) have passed the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Examination conducted to select headteachers for vacant positions in government schools.

Dr Mir Afzal Tajik, Assistant Professor and Head of Graduate Programmes, AKU-IED, was invited as a guest speaker by the Comparative, International and Development Education Centre (CIDEC) of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, Canada.

Dr Alan DeYoung joined as Director of AKU-IED, Pakistan in February 2013. He holds a PhD in Anthropological and Sociological Studies in Education and an MA in Child Development from Stanford University.
