Improving Education Policy and Practice

The aim of our research is to transform the policy and practice of education in East Africa. AKU-IED works continuously with governments, school system administrators and local communities to improve the education of school-age children and young adults throughout East Africa.

We conduct 'research with a conscience' that yields contextually appropriate solutions and contribute to the improvement of educational practice and policy in the developing world as well as the wider global context.

Our research provides the evidence base for recommendations to policy decision-makers to assist East African governments and other agencies to meet their Education for All targets. It also provides insight on how to improve the quality of education within educational communities of practice and local communities.
