CELL Programmes

There are two key types of programmes that CELL offers across East Africa the Certificate in Education and our Short courses/workshops.

1. Certificate in Education 

The AKU Certificate Programmes are rigorous, can extend for up to six months and include a total of 320 student learning hours and is delivered in a blended format with modular face-to-face delivery which is combined with self study, a practicum and action learning within the classroom. This includes reflective practice, which is critical for a teacher’s development and leads to continuous and on-going professional learning.

Duration: 3 to 6 months

Locations: Across East Africa at various locations in Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda (Rwanda and Burundi to be added soon)

Target Audience: Pre primary, primary and secondary school teachers, teacher educators, teacher training college faculty and staff, government officials working in education at local, regional and national level, NGOs, development agencies, policy makers and educational leaders and managers.

2. Short courses and workshops

These programmes are conducted for individual organisations to meet specific needs. The programmes deal with current issues in education and work with issues and topics that impact the teachers and learners in the classroom today such as looking at making learning more interactive with discussion and role plays, improving assessment methods and interrogating current issues such as parental and community involvement and the introduction of new and improved techniques in educational leadership and management.

Duration: Starting at 2 days upto 3 weeks
