Imagining Futures

Imagining Futures East Africa 2010

October 26-30, 2010

We wanted to understand the potential of the arts in the region and what we could uniquely do to enhance this potential. The Imagining Futures event brought together local, regional and global scholars, thinkers, scientists, researchers, designers, policy makers, entertainers, businesses, artists, academicians, financiers, designers and technologists over a few days to dream, suggest and plan. The key objectives of the meeting were to:

  • Review FAS integrated arts and creative industries curricula proposal against regional trends and futures
  • Reflect on the ‘Creative Economy’ in East Africa and explore implications for higher education
  • Develop concept plans and project proposals to explore the East African creative economy and test FAS Arts curriculum proposals
  • Establish creative partnerships and networks through dialogue and shared projects
