Project Description  
In 2013 the Provost established four networks to enable AKU to operate as a single integrated university by using AKU’s resources effectively and efficiently through sharing of lessons, not re-inventing the wheel and strengthening the student experience.  The Networks of Teaching and Learning (TL) and Quality Assurance and Improvement (QAI) both aim to foster excellence in academic programmes at AKU, the former doing so through supporting professional educational development of faculty and in the latter through internal quality assurance mechanisms.
The Educational Research Assistant will be supporting the Director and her team to ensure activities planned are evidence based and to promote educational  scholarship amongst our faculty.

Responsibilities  
  • ​Literature reviews on best practices for educational professional development and capacity development on QA in higher edcuation.
  • Organising faculty development workshops.
  • Support with developing evaluation procedures on faculty satisfaction with educational development activities.
  • Helping with orgnaising the first TL conference.
  • Developing content for website sections of QAI and TL nets.
  • Developing a communication strategy and content on engaged pedagogy and teaching tips for faculty.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Director.

Eligibility  
  • ​Enrolment in a Graduate or Master’s programme with a concentration in Education.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Culturally sensitive.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and be self motivated to learn.
Expected Project Outcome   A TL network evaluation form produced for educational development activities; A successful TL annual conference; A report of best practices with respect to educational development activities; A user friendly TL and QAI net website with relevant content; a communciation strategy and teaching tips for faculty.
Benefits  

​The selected intern will be provided with furnished accommodations as well as a living stipend to cover minimal daily expenses. All visa processing costs will also be covered.

Please note that air travel is not covered by AKU, the students should have a minimum access to savings for the duration of this internship.
