Project Description   The Aga Khan University operates through an endowment funding strategy. As the University expands and grows, more strategies must be developed to accommodate the changes in costs for individual programmes and areas. The selected intern will be required to facilitate in the development of an endowment strategy to meet the changing needs of the university.
Responsibilities   The selected intern will be responsible for verifying the types of endowments required, whether restricted or unrestricted, creating a terms of reference for each type of endowment including use of funds, ensuring the existing endowments are in line with future needs, and developing monitoring systems for endowments based on needs. Exposure will be provided in endowment investment strategies.
Eligibility  
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor's or a Master's programme in the field of Urban Land Economics, Finance, Accounting, Property Management or Engineering
  • Strong analytical ability and business acumen
  • Strong computer skills e.g. Excel and PowerPoint is essential
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills
  • Exposure to project development in real estate would be an asset
Expected Project Outcome   The expected project outcome will be to gain board approval on an endowment strategy.
Benefits  

The selected intern will be provided with furnished accommodation as well as a living stipend to cover minimal daily expenses. All visa processing costs will also be covered.

Please note that air travel is not covered by AKU, the students should have a minimum access to savings for the duration of this internship.
