​Senior Instructor, Section of Fetomaternal Medicine and Neonatal Health

Introduction

​The Section of Fetomaternal Medicine and Neonatal Health (FMNH) is part of the University’s Women and Child Health Division, which deals with the continuum of maternal, fetal and child health issues. The Section focuses on the surveillance and management of high risk pregnancies especially those complicated by the structural or chromosomal abnormalities or those with medical disorders. Neonatal Medicine is a recognized Pediatrics subspecialty and referral units for neonatal intensive care have developed and contributed significantly to the reduction in neonatal mortality and morbidity. The development of this specialty is a logical parallel step in obstetrics to promote and ensure improved fetal outcome.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of ​Senior Instructor, Section of Fetomaternal Medicine and Neonatal Health.
Responsibilities

​The incumbent will be expected to:

  • work as a faculty member of fetal maternal medicine
  • provide accessible, compassionate, ethical and evidence-based care to patients in an academic setting
  • participate in clinical work in ​the section of FMNH and Division of Women & Child health
  • attend clinics, operating theater and Labor room management of patients
  • teach and train undergraduates and postgraduates according to the defined standards and curriculum
  • participate in institutional CME and Public Awareness programmes
  • be involved in the research of the section of FMNH
  • demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution techniques with patients, co-workers, physicians & other health care members
  • participate in departmental and organizational performance improvement activities.
Requirements

​Applicants should have:

  • completed MBBS with structured postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • completed FCPS, MRCOG, American Board or equivalent qualifications in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
  • good teaching, training and clinical skills
  • ability to empathize, satisfy and retain patients in clinical practice.
