Introduction

​The Aga Khan University seeks three accomplished academic leaders to help guide our effort to create a world-class Graduate School of Media and Communications.

Headquartered in Nairobi but reaching across East Africa and beyond, our mission is to train and inspire a new generation of media managers and professionals distinguished by the highest standards of competence, ethics and independence, innovation and social responsibility.

Responsibilities

The new Director of Professional Development and Continuing Education will build a rigorous curriculum of short and long courses emphasizing professional development and training for early to mid-career journalists across the media landscape.

The new Director of Multimedia Education will oversee the establishment of a pioneering initial degree programme, the Master of Arts in Multimedia Journalism.
 
The new Director of Media Management and Entrepreneurship will establish innovative programmes that effectively help media managers address the challenges of today’s fast-changing media environment.
Requirements

​Successful candidates will be acknowledged leaders in their field with 10 or more years of solid training, teaching or administrative experience, including a track record in organizing a modern journalism curriculum combining traditional writing and reporting, TV and broadcast journalism and newer social media.  A PhD or other advanced degree is desirable.

Applicants will report directly to the Dean. They should expect to travel heavily, regionally and internationally. We offer globally competitive salary and benefits, conference and sabbatical leaves, housing and relocation support.
