​Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research and health care of international standard relevant to Pakistan and the region.

The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level, not only impacting the health policies but also enabling millions to live an improved life.

Aga Khan University invites applications for the positions of ​Senior Instructors (Research).


The incumbents will be expected to:

  • develop high quality research proposals for funding
  • conduct research in the field of early child development and disability and publish at least one original paper each year
  • supervise, monitor and evaluate  research projects in community and clinical settings, including some in remote field sites
  • train and mentor project staff regarding the topics related to their project activities
  • lead and support teaching and training efforts to enhance research capacity in early child development and disability
  • actively participate in research activities of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health
  • oversee Data Management Unit, Daily Surveillance System and laboratories
  • participate in Research Journal Clubs and Research Grand Rounds
  • coordinate AKU Health Assembly Abstracts
  • supervise research elective students
  • undertake systematic reviews of relevance to maternal and child health and development.

Candidates should have:

  • Masters in Psychology with advanced diploma in Clinical Psychology with at least four years of research related experience. Candidates will some clinical experience in developmental assessments, intervention planning, counseling families, evaluations for children and research training with developmental risks would be preferred


MBBS degree with Masters in Public Health and at least four years’ experience of research projects in remote areas which  includes training research and clinical teams in evaluation and interventions for child development

  • skills to manage projects as independent supervisor
  • willingness for frequent  travel to remote locations for overseeing quality assurance of departmental research projects and training of local staff
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • proven research skills using different research methodologies
  • ability to work as an effective team player
  • excellent written and communication skills in English.
