Introduction

Professional Development Centre, North, (PDCN) of the Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) is working for quality improvement in education in Gilgit-Baltistan of Pakistan. Working in a purpose-built building in Konodass, Gilgit, PDCN provides state-of-the-art facilities for capacity building of teachers, headteachers, district managers and other stakeholders of education. Over the last decade PDCN has attracted an increasing number of course participants from all parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and beyond. Our partnership with the Government Education Department Gilgit-Baltistan and AKES,P to improve quality of teaching and learning in schools, has achieved encouraging results.

Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), has agreed to contribute financial resources to a project called “Education Development and Improvement Program” (EDIP), conceived by Aga Khan Foundation, Pakistan (AKF, P) in association with AKU-IED/PDCN, AKESP and some other partner organizations of AKDN. AKU-IED/PDCN is committed to implement the EDIP project in all seven districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, therefore, we are looking for high caliber personnel to fill out the following positions:

Responsibilities

The incumbent will be supervising and monitoring the EDIP research related activities.  He/she must have experience in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, ensure reliability of collected data and analyze the data using SPSS and N-vivio. She/he will also supervise data management activities at field site and at AKU-Human Development Programme office in Karachi and will conduct trainings for EDIP filed staff. This will be Karachi based position however candidates will be required to travel extensively for the project work.

Requirements

The candidate should have an MBBS/MScN/MSc in Social Sciences/Masters in Public Health/Epidemiology/Health Policy and Management with sound knowledge of conducting Qualitative and Quantitative research with at least three to four years of relevant work experience. Work on disabled children would be an added advantage.
