Introduction

Aga Khan Unviersity invites applications for the position of Director, Learning and Development / Organizational Development.

This is a key leadership role in developing and promoting the strategic directions for the university that will foster and enable continuous improvement and people development initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible to position the university's members as competent internationally qualified health and education innovators by designing learning and development programmmes across the university that will embrace a learning organization philosophy. S/he will lead programmes of organisation change and development, supporting a culture of achievement, accountability and learning; provide direction and support to bring about synergy across the university.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership by modeling high standards of work performance, positively influencing teams and individuals, negotiating, mediating and resolving conflict and clearly communicating the vision and values of the university
  • Develop and implement leadership development programmes to prepare leaders for senior academic and health services roles in multiple countries
  • Lead the talent development, performance management and change management processes to bring a positive cultural transition and change in the university
  • Create a vision, establish directions and generate an atmosphere of trust
  • Leverage diverse views to inspire improvement and innovation
  • Develop implementation strategies for communication, resistance management, coaching, training, accountability and rewards to reinforce adoption of said changes
  • Facilitate the alignment and integration of people, processes and technology; vision and strategy; leadership and workforce; and business goals and culture to excel in achieving the university’s business strategies
  • Evaluate OD programs and/or core practices by designing various follow-up and feedback mechanism for the purpose of assessing change readiness, leadership alignment, and organizational impact
  • Review organization resources to ensure that learning and development resources exist or are developed to support learning needs based upon planned competencies, organizational changes, and other factors, as well as the goals of the university
  • Manage and lead the organisational development team to provide quality value added services in all aspects of organisation development across the university.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree with at least 8 to 10 years of leadership experience in Learning/Organization Development
  • Senior management experience in health or education disciplines would be welcome
  • International experience and knowledge of state-of-the-art organization development and design, methodologies, and tools
  • Successful senior level OD professional with considerable strategic thinking and change management experience
  • Highly developed leadership, influencing and communication skills and demonstrable capability in relationship building at all levels
  • Ability to work within and fortify teams, mainly leadership and management teams
  • Slid experience of developing and steering culture change
  • Analytical and conceptual skills essential for effective strategic thinking
  • Strong planning and project management skills and ability to apply these skills in effective working partnerships across the university
  • Strong self-management with a high level of energy and flexibility.
