4th SIX-A-SIDE RAMADAN FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2006
The Aga Khan University (AKU) Sports Centre organized its 4th AKU Sports Centre Six-a-Side Ramadan Football Tournament which commenced from Thursday, October 5, 2006 at the AKU Football Ground. Sixteen Teams (including three AKU Students Teams) representing Institutions/Clubs took part in the Tournament. The teams were divided in four pools and the round matches were played on league basis. The Tournament progressed through group stages to Quarters, Semi's and Final.
Pool A: National Athletics Football Club (NAFC), Textile Institute of Pakistan (TIP), League United Football Club (LUFC) and Lecole for Advance Studies (LAS) 'B' Team.
Pool B: Aga Khan University Medical College (AKUMC) 'A' Team, Football Club Defence (FCD) Red, Iqra University (IU) 'B' Team and Lecole 'A' Team.
Pool C: AKUMC 'B' Team, Baqai University (BU), Iqra 'A' Team and AKU-SON.
Pool D: Aga Khan Gymkhana (AKG), FCD Blue, Greenwich University (GU) and Karachi United Football Club (KU)
Inauguration
Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Former Captain Pakistan Football Team along with Mr. Rahim Buksh Baloch, Secretary, District West Football Association and Riaz Contractor, Chief Organizer & Manager, AKU Sports Centre inaugurated the Tournament. The Teams and the officials were introduced to the Guests who later kicked the ball and officially inaugurated the Tournament. On the opening day, three matches were played. AKU MEDICAL COLLEGE 'A' TEAM Vs FOOTBALL CLUB DEFENCE-RED
FCD-RED won the match, Score 01, NIL_, Goals.
At half time, Score was Nil. A self goal in the 6th minute of the 2nd half gave victory to FCD-Red.

NATIONAL ATHLETICS FOOTBALL CLUB Vs TEXTILE INSTITUTE OF PAKISTAN
The game ended in a draw as no team could score a goal against each other.

AGA KHAN GYMKHANA VS. FCD-BLUE
AKG won the match, score 01, Nil Goal
At half time, Score was 01 goal made by Sohail Pervaiz of AKU in the 8th minute of the first half
SEMI FINALS and FINALS
The Semi-Finals of the Football Tournament were played on Monday, October 16, 2006. The Aga Khan Gymkhana (AKG) beat National Athletic Football Club (NAFC) while the Iqra University (IU) "A" Team beat Football Club Defence (FCD) Red respectively and qualified for the Final.
The final of the Tournament was played on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 evening. Iqra University "A' Team clinched the Ramadan Football Trophy beating Aga Khan Gymkhana on sudden death by 8-7 goals. The thrilling and exciting match was played neck to neck each team trying to take a lead and at half time the score was 01-Nil goal in favour of AKG. Sohail Perviaz of AKG scored the first goal in the 1st minute of the 1st half. Iqra University equalized the goal in the 5th minute of the 2nd half. At the end of the final whistle of the schedule time, the game ended in a draw. No team could score against each other in the extra time of 5 minutes each half. Then the game goes on Penalty Kicks but with no results each team scoring 4 goals each. The decision came when the game was decided on Sudden Death. Iqra University won the Final by 01 goal difference.
The Chief Guest Mr. U. F. Tariq Lutfi, Former Chief Coach, Pakistan Football Team and Guest of Honours International Footballers Farooq Shah and Aziz Baloch in presence of Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer and Manager AKU Sports Centre distributed the prizes among the players. The Iqra University Captain Talha Baloch received the Winning Trophy while AKG Skipper Nizamuudin received the Runner's-up Trophy. Islamuddin of AKG was awarded the Best Player and Highest Scorer Award (08 goals) while a special Consolation Prize was given to Mohd. Usman (Goal Keeper) of Iqra University for demonstrating excellent skills in the Football Tournament. The Chief Guest U.F. Tariq Lutfi paid tributes to the efforts of AKU Sports Centre Organizers for organizing such healthy activities especially for the youths and congratulated both the teams on their success. He emphasized to the Organizers that such Tournaments should be arranged on regular basis for the promotion of Football amongst the youth. Mr. Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer and Manager AKU Sports Centre thanked the guests, the participating teams and the technical officials for all the support in organizing the successful tournament.
