INTER-CLUB BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
AKU
MEDICAL COLLEGE TEAM WINS THE INAUGRUAL MATCH
The Aga Khan
University (AKU) Sports & Rehabilitation Centre is organizing
its 1st Inter-Club Basketball Tournament which
commenced from Friday, February 3, 2006. Six Teams from Institutions/Clubs:
Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU), Chinese Basketball Team, Bounce
Basketball Club, Neighborhood Sharks, Neighborhood Wolves and
Aga Khan University Medical College (AKU) have registered their
teams in the tournament. The tournament is being played on league
basis (each team to play against each other and the top two teams
to play the final) at the AKU Sports Centre Gymnasium.

The inaugural
of the Tournament was held on Friday, February 3, 2006. Dr. Sohail
Qureshi, Associate Professor, Department of Biological and Biomedical
Sciences and Chair, Sports Centre Advisory Committee, AKU inaugurated
the Tournament along with Riaz Akbar Contractor, Chief Organizer
and Manager Sports Centre, Hanif Shariff, Sr. Manager Administrative
Services, AKU. The Teams and the officials were introduced to
the Chief Guest who later tossed the ball and officially inaugurated
the Tournament.

Three league
matches were played on the opening day. The inaugural match was
played between Ziauddin Medical University (ZMU) and Aga Khan
University (AKU) which was won by AKU after a thrilling
and exciting match by 37 /_29 points. At the end
of the 1st Half, the Score was 19/18_ points
in favor of _ZMU.
