AKU INTER-DEPARTMENT TAPE BALL CRICKET TOURNAMENT 2006 INAUGURATED
The much awaited Inter-Department Tape Ball Cricket Tournament 2006 organized by the Faculty and Staff Sports Recreation Committee in collaboration with the Sports Rehabilitation Centre commenced from Saturday, August 12, 2006 at the football ground. A total of 64 teams (men) i.e. around 900 employees are participating in the Tournament. The teams have been placed into four pools (16 teams in each pool) and playing on a knockout basis within their pools, 8 overs per inning. The top team from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals and winners of the semi-finals will play the final.

The Chief Guest at the opening ceremony was Mr. Sherali Razwani, Director Finance who was introduced to the participating teams and officials and latter officially inaugurated the Tournament by hitting the ball and declaring the Tournament open.
The inaugural match was played between last years Winner Clinical Laboratory and Purchase Department Teams. The match summary is as follows:

Purchase Department won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 96 runs in the allocated 8 overs, (Purchase: Imtiaz Feroz 28, Hussain Alwani 23, Iqtidar 3-22). In response Clinical Laboratory completed their target in just 5.2 overs (Raheel Mithani 62, Sheeraz Ishaq 14*, Moiz Gayas took 1 wicket each from Purchase department). Clinical Laboratory defended their title and won the opening match of the Tournament by 8 wickets with 2.4 overs to spare.
