AKU Medical College Alumni Association
Pakistan | Middle East | Asia Pacific
The Aga Khan University Alumni Association is being revitalised as a representative body of the University’s alumni. This has also provided an opportunity to create the AKU Medical College Alumni Association, Pakistan/Middle East/Asia Pacific Chapter for Medical College alumni living in this region.  
 
Therefore, the Steering Committee responsible for managing this process is pleased to invite nominations for the positions of (1) Chapter President, (2) Vice-President - Undergraduate programme, (3) Vice-President - Graduate programmes, (4) Vice-President -Postgraduate programmes, (5) Secretary, and (6) Treasurer. Nominations process, including eligibility criteria for nominating alumni and nominees, position terms, nomination timelines, etc., along with a brief summary, is below. Attached with this communication is a nomination form, which once completed, may be sent via email to alumni@aku.edu by February 28, 2013. Alternatively, alumni may also nominate by visiting the Office of Alumni Affairs.
 
Officer Positions – Eligibility Criteria
  
(All positions carry two-year terms)

President:
Eligibility:            
- Must have completed any AKU Medical College (PK) programme (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate), minimum duration of two years
- Must be residing in Pakistan

Vice-President – Undergraduate (MBBS):
Eligibility:            
- Must have completed the AKU MBBS programme
- Must be residing in Pakistan, Middle East or Asia Pacific

Vice-President – Graduate (PhD, MSc, MBioeth):
Eligibility:
- Must have completed any AKU Medical College (PK) graduate programme, minimum duration of two years
- Must be residing in Pakistan, Middle East or Asia Pacific

Vice-President – Postgraduate (PGME: Residency, Fellowship):
Eligibility:            
- Must have completed any AKU Medical College (PK) postgraduate programme , minimum duration of two years
- Must be residing in Pakistan, Middle East or Asia Pacific

Secretary:
Eligibility:            
- Must have completed any AKU Medical College (PK) programme (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate), minimum duration of two years
- Must be residing in Karachi, Pakistan

Treasurer:
Eligibility:            
- Must have completed any AKU Medical College (PK) programme (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate), minimum duration of two years
- Must be residing in Karachi, Pakistan
 
Nominations Process:
 
• Any AKU Medical College (PK) alumna or alumnus from any programme of at least one year may nominate an alumnus for any position above, or may self-nominate, provided they meet the criterion for the respective position.

• To participate in Chapter affairs, including nomination and candidacy, alumni are asked to have their most current information on file with Alumni Affairs. This can be done through online form: 
(No formal or previous membership is necessary to participate)

• Only alumni living within the Chapter’s physical boundaries i.e. Pakistan, Middle East or the Asia Pacific regions may nominate officers as outlined above.

• Nomination may be for any one position or multiple positions so long as the same individual is not nominated for multiple positions.

• In case of multiple nominations by the same alumnus (nominator), the first one will be considered final.

• All compulsory fields (marked with an asterisk) must be completed for a nomination to be considered.

• In case of any disputed nominations, the Steering Committee will render a decision.

• Members of the Steering Committee may not run for office or nominate other individuals for officers of the Association.

• Nominations will be accepted until Feb 28, 2013 via email at alumni@aku.edu

• Following the nominations process, those who have been nominated will have a chance to accept or decline the nomination for that specific position.

• Elections for the respective positions will be conducted electronically and in person at the Stadium Road campus in Karachi. Details regarding the elections process will be shared following conclusion of nominations process.
