The University Librarian is responsible for the overall management and development of Libraries and Learning Resources throughout the University’s international campuses. The objective of the Office of the University Library is to facilitate the creation of a network of AKU Libraries which, while maintaining their individual specificities, can share resources and services throughout all the campuses. The University Librarian also actively participates in the work of University committees and management bodies.

While exercising responsibility over all AKU libraries, the University Librarian works in close collaboration with academic units to develop library and information services that cover their specific needs as well as those of AKU as a global learning community. Management of human resources, budgets, and administrative and technical orientation of all AKU Libraries is also within the mandate of the University Librarian.
