Section of Nutrition and Food Services Department, provides nutrition care counseling to patients regarding nutritional and other non-pharmacological interventions for the management and/or prevention of chronic diseases. The approach is holistic and involves not only the patients but also their families. The goal is to guide the patient towards an optimum nutritional status and a healthier lifestyle that will benefit the patient as well as his/her family.
Services
The Nutrition Clinic offers specialised services in cardiac nutrition care, cancer nutrition care, diabetic nutrition care, enteral nutritional care, paediatric nutritional care, prenatal nutritional care, surgical nutritional care and weight management education.Diseases that particularly require nutritional counseling include obesity, diabetes, dyslipidemias, Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM), neurological disease rehabilitation, heart disease, chronic renal failure, liver disease, short bowel diseases, irritable bowel disease, multiple food allergies and intolerances, as well as under-nutrition in both children and adults.
The clinic also provides counseling to families who are interested in developing healthy eating and exercise habits in their young children to maximise their growth and health potential and minimise the risk of chronic diseases in later life.
Body Composition Analysis
The body composition analysis is a fast and convenient way of determining a person's level of obesity, total and percentage body fat, total and percentage body water and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).Body composition analysis is conducted at Nazerali-Walji Building , second floor.
