Patient Admission Process
Private Wing Checklist
The following is a checklist you may find helpful
while you are at Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH)
You may need:
- Address and telephone book
- Bedroom sleepers, nightgown, brush/comb,
shaving kit, cosmetics;
Soap, tooth-past, toothbrush, hand lotion,
shampoo and a tissue box will be provided.
- Reading
material (if
you wish);
- Your spectacles, contact lenses and dentures;
Please ask the Nursing Staff to provide
you with protective containers for your dentures
to keep them within your reach. This is important
in order to prevent loss or misplacement.
You do not require:
- Electrical appliances (excluding electric
shavers)
For safety reasons, you are requested to
use only those electrical appliances, which are provided
by the Hospital. Battery operated transistor radios
and shavers may be used provided they do not disturb
other patients.
- VCR
- Pillows and blankets
- Medicines from home
All medicine required for the treatment
during your hospitalisation will be supplied by the
Hospital. However, you should tell your doctor about
the medicines you have been taking and he/she will
decide the further course. Therefore, please do not
bring with you any medicines from home.
- Cash, jewellery or valuables
Please note that the Hospital is not responsible for the loss or theft of
any of your cash, jewellery or valuables. Please leave your jewellery,
money and other valuables at home, as the Hospital does not
offers locker services.
- Food or fruits from outside
- Personal items unrelated to your Hospitalisation
Mobile phones are not allowed on PW-III
as they interfere with the cardiac Telemetry system.
- Weapons
The Hospital policy strictly prohibits
carrying of arms and ammunition by patients,
attendants, guards or visitors inside the hospital
premises. Any person carrying weapons are requested
to deposit them at the Security Control Room
near the main Hospital gate.
