Patient Welfare Financial Assistance
 
 

Allocation and Scope of Welfare

Outpatient

The Welfare Programme covers an average of 50 per cent of cost of diagnostic procedure or visit, depending on individual patient's economic status.

Inpatient

Average welfare assistance to inpatients amounts to approximately 42per cent.

Welfare Bed:
The patient pays for pharmacy and medical-surgical supplies while the Welfare Programme bears all other charges.

Partial Waiver of Charges:
Offered to patients from middle class families who need some support if the costs increase beyond their capacity to pay; for example, 15-20 per cent of total charges.

Catastrophic Assistance:
This is offered to patients of upper middle class families who need support to meet very large hospitalisation bills; for example, over Rs 200,000 - 300,000

Services Not Covered by the Patient Welfare Programme

  • Maternity
  • Dental
  • Cosmetic plastic surgery
  • Executive check-ups, etc.
  • Outpatient pharmacy etc.
