The Institute for Educational Development in Tanzania provides subsidised accommodation to course participants from outside Dar es Salaam on a room-sharing basis. Participants are responsible for arranging their own meals and may purchase lunch at the canteen on University grounds.

Female residents with young children under the age of two are provided with a single room so the baby and a child carer (optional) can share the accommodation with the mother.

Provisions in the Hostel

Each room has two beds (with mattresses, pillows and sheets) with a table and chair. Bathrooms are usually shared between 2-3 people. Common areas are equipped with a television, iron, dining table and chairs, sofas and desktop computers (two per hostel). A fully equipped kitchen is also provided.


Accommodation is provided for students from outside Dar es Salaam and is arranged on a share basis. The University hostel is semi furnished (bed, a set of bed linen, mattress, and kitchen utensils). Women students accompanied by children under 2 years will be provided a single room at the hostel.
