Admission Requirements
Programme Structure
Applicants may enroll directly into the MScN Programme or alternately apply into the transition programme. Applicants must meet the criteria established for each of these programmes.
In this academic programme, the medium of instruction is English. Students are expected to fully participate in the learning process through classroom discussion, clinical rotations, presentations, seminars, and completion of a thesis.
Minimum Academic Requirements
For Direct MScN Programme
Following are the eligibility criteria for application to the direct-entry to the MScN programme:
- Successful completion of BScN programme
- Current RN licensure in Pakistan or equivalent
- A minimum of one year nursing experience at the time of application
For Transition Programme
Candidates who are Registered Nurse (RN) may apply if they meet the following conditions:
- Possess following qualification:
- BSc / BA / BCom degree (general academic), or
- RM and Diploma in Ward Administration (DWA) and Diploma in Teaching Administration (DTA), with current licensure
- Have at least two years of working experience in nursing at the time of application
- Have a current RN Licensure in Pakistan or equivalent if applying from overseas
Candidates will be required to successfully complete the transition programme with a cumulative grade point averate (cGPA) of at least 2.50 to progress into the MScN programme.
Application Requirements
Application for admission must be on the prescribed application form, along with the following supporting documents.
Required Documents
A complete set of copies of official transcripts of degrees, diplomas and certificate courses from college, graduate and professional schools should be attached with the application form. All copies must be duly attested from a gazetted officer.
Statement of Purpose
A statement summarising past education, training and experience as well as interests and future aims is required. A curriculum vitae and list of publications, if any should be included.
Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation from at least three people who are well acquainted with applicant's previous academic work and professional experience. Blank formats are included in the admission packet.
Part-time Programme Applicants may enroll in the programme as a full-time (two years) or part-time student. Application for part-time studies will be considered on an individual basis. Part-time students will be required to complete the programme in maximum of five years.
Note: Admission to the MScN programme is based on attaining minimum scores on admission test and equivalent, and merit and proven commitment to advanced nursing practice. Merit will be evaluated through scholastic achievements of applicants, past experience and future plans.
A high academic score in any single discipline or any outstanding achievement alone may not be sufficient for selection.
Applicants in the public or private sector, in Pakistan and overseas may apply.
Applicants are required to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employers. Admissions of Government employees will be confirmed only if they have the relevant NOC before the first day of school.
