Candidates must have 18 years of education including a Masters or equivalent degree based on a minimum of 30 credits after 16 years of education. A minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in the Semester System) or First Division (in the Annual System) in MPhil / MS / FCPS / FRCP / equivalent degree is required.

Additional requirements include:
- Achieving a minimum 70% score on the AKU Graduate Admission Test. This test is comprised of subject-specific components (70%), and English language, mathematics, and logical reasoning (30%).
- Submitting a completed application form, including three Letters of Recommendation and a Statement of Career Objectives / Research Interest.
