• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with minimum 55 per cent marks from a recognised Institution/University.
  
• To specialise in Teacher Education, a minimum of two years teaching experience is required. To specialise in Educational Leadership & Management, two years of working experience in an educational institution with minimum one year of management experience as principal, vice-principal, head teacher, head/deputy head of the school, head of department, or coordinator is required.

Candidates who meet the above criteria will be expected to take an English language test, a mathematics and logical reasoning test, and participate in an interview.

Scholastic Achievements
A complete set of attested official transcripts of academic record in graduate school/college, and/or professional schools, with certificate of degrees conferred, courses taken, and grades with course percentages received.

Statement of Purpose
A statement of purpose, summarising past education, training and experience, as well as interests and future aims is required. 

Letters of Recommendation
Letters of recommendation from at least two people (professional and an academic) who are well acquainted with applicant’s previous academic work and professional experience. Blank formats are included with the applicant form.

Reasons for Opting Specialisation
Applicants must provide a rationale for opting specialisation in Teacher Education and subject discipline or Educational Leadership & Management. 

Experience Letter
Attested certificate of work experience as a teacher, teacher educator, principal, vice-principal, head teacher, head/deputy head of the school, head of department, or coordinator is required.  

No Objection Certificate (NOC)
Applicants from the public sector must submit application through proper channel and get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective District Education department to appear for the written test, interview, and for studying at AKU-IED.

Application Fee

For Applicants in Pakistan: A non-refundable application fee of Rs 4,000 payable in cash if deposited in person or bank draft drawn in favor of Aga Khan University-IED, Karachi or through on-line banking.

For Applicants Residing Abroad: A non-refundable application fee of US$190 or its equivalent in Pakistani rupees, payable only by a bank draft in favor of Aga Khan University-IED, Karachi.

Successful candidates are required to pay a component of the fee on acceptance to the programme. The schedule of tuition and other charges for the 2012-13 academic year will be provided separately.

The completed application form with all requirements should be posted by registered mail, or through a reliable courier service or delivered in person to the Office of the Registrar, AKU-IED from Monday through Friday, 10:00 am-12:00 pm or 2:00-4:00 pm.
