May 13, 2009

“In full knowledge of the obligations I am undertaking, I promise to care for the sick with all the skill and understanding I possess, without regard to race, creed, colour, politics or social status, sparing no effort to conserve life, to alleviate suffering and to promote health” – 106 student nurses from Year II of the Diploma in Nursing and the BScN programmes at Aga Khan University School of Nursing took the International Pledge and reaffirmed their promise to provide the highest level of care to patients, following in the footsteps of the pioneers nurses, Rufayda Al Aslamiya, the first Muslim nurse and Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.
