​​National Honours for AKU Faculty Members

Two members of AKU’s faculty, Professor Shaista Masood Khan and Associate Professor Nehal Masood received the prestigious Sitara-i-Imtiaz, the third-highest decoration given to any civilian in Pakistan, on March 23. The awards, in recognition of their achievements in the health sciences, were presented by the President of Pakistan at an investiture ceremony held in Islamabad.

Professor Shaista Masood Khan graduated with an MBBS from Dow University of Health Sciences in 1972 and became a fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 1981. Currently she is Consultant General Surgeon and Clinic Incharge, Breast Clinic at Aga Khan University Hospital.

Dr Nehal Masood graduated from Dow University in 1989 and received his training in oncology/haematology and bone marrow transplantation from University of Washington, Seattle. He is Section Head, Medical Oncology and Director, Medical Oncology Fellowship Programme at AKUH.
