Aga Khan University has been ranked the top medical as well as private university in Pakistan and third overall by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in its latest ranking of 136 public and private universities in the country.
Quaid-e-Azam University, and Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences secured the first and second positions respectively, while the Lahore University of Management Sciences ranked 10th in the overall list of top 10 higher education institutions in Pakistan.
Following the QS World University Ranking criteria, HEC has ranked Pakistani universities on two parameters, quality and research, to get a reasonable reflection of higher education development in the country. Each category has several performance indicators designed to capture the full range of university activities, from quality assurance measures to teaching quality and research.
HEC also ranked the top five universities in several categories – agriculture/veterinary, art and design, computer sciences and IT, engineering and technology, business education, medical and general (large and others) – to demonstrate standing by subject.
