This workshop would provide participants the opportunity to
- Discuss the overview of Early Brain Development and its implication to learning
- Discuss the overview of Bloom’s Taxonomy
- Identify the categories in the revised Taxonomy
- Collaboratively review common experiences of children in classrooms in relation to the taxonomy
- Reflect on available curriculum, schemes of work or lesson plans and suggest possible implementation strategies that instill higher order thinking in children
- Participate in interactive teaching learning activities and evaluate its implication on children’s thinking
- Create sample teaching learning activities from the available curriculum, schemes of work and lesson plans
Workshop Leaders: Shelina Walli
Shelina Walli is an Alumni of Aga Khan University Institute of Educational Development, EA and is presently a faculty member and the Academic Coordinator for the Centre of Continuing Education and Life Long Learning at the university. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education and MEd in Teacher Education. She brings with her over 20 years of experience in the field of ECD in varied capacities including management. In addition to teaching, Shelina is involved in for the past two years in a research project named “ASKAIDS” with the Commonwealth Education Centre, Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge UK on which she is the coordinator for Tanzania, and is also a team member of the research on Literacy in Early Years. Presently, Shelina is involved in a Blended Learning initiative through which she teaches over 80 Post Registered Nurses who are based in Karachi Pakistan. She is also involved as an online tutor on the science of ECD programme from Red River College. Shelina’s further passion is to integrate technology in training preschool teachers and tutors.
