Dr Farhat Abbas, Dean, Medical College and the Hussein Cumber Professor, Department of Surgery, has been named a Fellow of the Pakistan Academy of Sciences.
The Academy, a non-government body of distinguished scientists from across Pakistan, serves to advise the government on scientific development in the country. Only scientists of the highest merit who have made truly outstanding contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge are elected as Fellows of the Academy.
This is not the first time that Dr Abbas has been recognized for his achievements. In 2010, he was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (medal of excellence) by the President of Pakistan. Dr Abbas’s service to his university, community and country in the field of clinical practice, and medical research and education is exemplary. The Aga Khan University community would like to congratulate Dr Abbas on this singular honour.
