The Aga Khan University Hospital has won an Environment Excellence Award 2011. This is the fourth consecutive win – 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 – for the Hospital and the fifth win overall. The first time the University Hospital participated in the Awards and won was 2006.
This award, sponsored by the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) in collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme and the Ministry of Environment, Government of Pakistan, is given to organisations making an excellent contribution to sustainable development.
One hundred and forty-eight organisations from various fields competed for the Award. In picking the winners, the eight-man jury rewarded those organisations which had put into place policies and practices that have helped achieve economic goals, foster social development and safeguarded the environment.
Commenting on the continued success of Aga Khan University Hospital, Hakim Ali Khan, Director, Facilities Management and Chairman, Safety Committee credited team work and shared vision for the success, while commenting on how it would encourage the University Hospital to improve its sustainable development practices even further.
