Vice President, Health Services
Mr Salim Hasham has held executive, leadership and consultancy roles in varied healthcare enterprises, including tertiary hospitals, academic medical center global services, private healthcare equity start-ups and acquisitions, and international healthcare providers.
Prior to joining AKU, he served as Senior Vice President of Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI), responsible for the management of their expansion outside the US and overseeing all global health services projects. Mr. Hasham also served as President and CEO of the two-campus system, Hawaii Medical Centers in USA. He has, over a period of three decades, successfully engaged in the development of private international medical centers in several countries and led projects on behalf of both public and private sector clients, working with Ministers, CEOs and International Financial Institutions. He has also been involved in significant public private partnerships and has led the development of privately funded multi-million dollar international private hospital projects in Beijing, Shanghai, Caribbean and India.
Mr Hasham has an honors undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Nairobi, a Summa Cum Laude Masters in Systems Engineering from Clemson University, South Carolina, USA and a Masters in Health Care Administration (MHA) from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
