The General Counsel is responsible to oversee the University’s legal matters nationally and internationally and advise accordingly. The mandate includes reviewing and/or preparing documents, agreements, legal opinions and legislation analyses as required. The General Counsel is also responsible to review, from a legal standpoint, AKU’s institutional policies and procedures as required by relevant departments, ensure company law compliance for all entities associated with AKU wherever situated, and carry out special projects as may be directed by the University President.
Mr Amin A. Jivraj, General Counsel, obtained his law degree (LLB) from Université Laval, Québec, Canada in 1981, and after the successful completion of his Bar Exams, he was awarded his license to practice law. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he has worked as a Barrister and Solicitor in both the private and public sectors before moving to Pakistan in 1998 to take on assignments at Aga Khan University.
