18th National Health Sciences Research Symposium
On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to the 18th National Health Sciences Research Symposium. This year the theme is “Cancer: Promoting Comprehensive Care”. It is scheduled to be held from February 24 to 26, 2015 at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, Pakistan.
Advances in our understanding of the mechanisms of carcinogenesis has resulted in the development of novel treatment and management strategies, leading to improvement in survival and quality of life of our patients. Given the rapid pace of research in the field of oncology, it is essential for our community to stay abreast of the latest developments and its’ potential impact on our clinical practice; and providing us with the tools to apply this knowledge to our unique socio-economic environment.
By combining stimulating didactic sessions, panel discussion and abstract presentations, this symposium aims to provide health care professionals with the opportunity to update their current knowledge in order to optimize care for their patients. In addition, this meeting will also give the participants an opportunity to interact one on one with both regional and international experts of various disciplines in the field of oncology.
It has been estimated that in the next several decades the incidence of cancer will likely double in the less developed countries. Therefore, it is essential that we strive to develop effective collaborations with the other oncology professionals within this region for epidemiological and cancer control programmes. We hope that this symposium will be a step forward in bringing us together.
We hope you will join us for an exciting interactive and educational experience. On behalf of the organizing committee of the 18th National Health Sciences Research Symposium we warmly welcome you to the vibrant city of Karachi.
