Wonca launches appeal for AKU flood relief efforts

September 9, 2010

The World Organization of Family Doctors (Wonca) has launched an appeal to its 120 member organizations in 99 countries on behalf of AKU, College of Family Medicine, Pakistan and Pakistan Society of Family Physicians to help in their flood relief efforts.

“Wonca is sending an appeal to its member organisations who will then forward it to their members. This appeal has the potential to reach out to over 250,000 family doctors around the world. This is a huge number and we hope that people will sign up to volunteer as we really need help in terms of helping hands, money and technical support,” says Professor Waris Qidwai, Chairman Department of Family Medicine, Aga Khan University.

The Department of Family Medicine, Aga Khan University is also training family doctors to deal with the medical fall-out of the disaster.
