Salary structure

The current salary ranges from Rs15,000 per month at resident level I to Rs 28,000 per month at resident level V.

General facilities offered during residency training

In line with the institutional policies, a package of fringe benefits is available to the residents.

Earned leave

Earned leave entitlement is 23 working days per annum, encashable to a maximum of 50 per cent of the entitlement.

Maternity leave

Paid maternity leave is granted for a period of 12 consecutive weeks to female residents who have completed one year of residency programme. It is admissible once in 2 years only and includes six weeks prior to estimated delivery date and six weeks thereafter.

Sick leave

Entitlement is up to 15 calendar days per annum.

Medical facilities

Reimbursement of outpatient medical expenses (for self, spouse, and dependent children) is up to Rs 22,500 per annum. The reimbursement of outpatient expenses incurred at institutions other than Aga Khan University Hospital will be allowed up to a maximum of Rs 11,250 per annum in line with the Hospital's current Medical Benefits Policy. Eighty-five per cent of the hospitalisation expenses incurred at Aga Khan University Hospital (for self, spouse and dependent children) are within the limits of the policy.

Insurance

Group life and accident insurance are in line with the organisational policy.

Accommodation

Only on-call accommodation is provided to all residents. The outstation residents and interns are provided a living out allowance of Rs 6,000 per month.

Resident appointment contract

A resident's appointment contract is for a period of one year. Contract renewal is dependent upon promotion to the next residency year, which in turn depends on evaluation of performance by the faculty.
