Back To AKU

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN MEDICAL COLLEGE

I am pleased to acknowledge your contributions made for the Health Sciences Research Assembly 2005 organised early this year in terms of your completed and in-process studies and research findings. The University is extremely delighted to learn the magnitude and scope of research in various areas that is presently prevailing at the university and certainly look forward to a continuing trend.

As research is an integral part of the Aga Khan University's mission this year's Health Sciences Research Assembly has been an extremely successful event. We believe that current magnitude and pace of research work at AKU is so much that we could organize an assembly every year.

The next Health Sciences Research Assembly will be a two day event at the campus (March 7-8, 2006). All academic faculty members are expected to submit at least one abstract (maximum of three) as the first author or senior author for this assembly. The abstract could be an original study, case report or technical innovation done at AKU in the last three years. Studies which are underway and not yet concluded in last assembly as well as work published or presented elsewhere could also be presented. All the abstracts will be presented in form of Posters in the research assembly.

It is mandatory for all faculty members who have received external or internal (URC, seed money) grants to submit an abstract. However, I expect every faculty member to submit at least one abstract. We will approach AKU alumni for abstract submission as well. These could be important resource for academic and research collaboration. Participation from students and residents is greatly encouraged.

The task of organizing this event has been re-assigned to a committee under the leadership of Dr. Mohammad Wasay who will soon be approaching you with further details.
