‘PROMOTION OF VOLUNTEERISM IN PAKISTAN ' Seminar by Prime Minister's Secretariat, National Volunteers Movement, Government of Pakistan and Aga Khan University
National Volunteer Movement (NVM) intends to promote volunteerism in Pakistan and provides a platform for public participation in community building by creating a ready pool of individuals that can be mass mobilised to act swiftly and effectively in natural and man-made disasters as well as in other peace-time mass mobilisation campaigns. NVM is working with a number of Partner organisations including, Civil Defence, Boy Scouts, Girls Guides, AKHUWAT, NCHD,UNICEF, Muslim Aid, Heritage Foundation, Helping Hand, NRSP, Hakas, Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Forest Department/Watershed-NWFP and many others.
UNDP and United Nations Volunteers are also supporting the NVM in many ways. We are in the process of designing and delivering training programmes for volunteers on disaster preparedness, first aid, trauma counselling and others. ‘Clean Pakistan ' is another recent awareness campaign of NVM being implemented in two union councils of Lahore .
